(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys golf team continues its strong season after another standout week. The Trojans claimed the team title at the Monarch Invitational on April 28 and followed up with a victory in a quadrangular meet at Harlan. Atlantic remains undefeated in dual competition and now holds three tournament championships this season.
Head Coach Kendra Henningsen credited the recent success to a true team effort, highlighting the team’s impressive 18-hole score of 309 at the Monarch Invitational, achieved despite extremely windy conditions.
Henningsen also praised the team’s depth, which proved crucial during the Harlan meet. Both Atlantic and Kuemper finished with identical scores of 157, but the Trojans edged ahead thanks to a clutch performance from fifth golfer Trevan Hansen.
Next up, the Trojans will host their own 14-team invitational on Tuesday at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club, starting at 10:00 a.m. Coach Henningsen noted that many of the teams competing on Tuesday will also be in the postseason mix.
The field for the Trojans Invitational includes: Shenandoah, Clarinda, Atlantic, ADM, Creston, Denison-Schleswig, Kuemper Catholic, Hamburg, Ballard, Red Oak, Glenwood, Harlan Community, Knoxville, and Winterset.
