(Coralville) Riverside closed out their 2022 volleyball campaign with a 3-0 setback at the hands of defending state runner-up Springville on Tuesday.
The Lady Dawgs fell to the top ranked Orioles 25-8, 25-8, 25-17 in a 1A State Quarterfinal played at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
Riverside was led by Veronica Andrusyshyn in kills with 7. She also finished with 8 digs. Ayla Richardson had 15 assists and 9 digs. Mack Olmstead-Mitchell and Sophia Taylor each posted 5 kills. Elly Henderson contributed 3 kills. Elyssa Amdor submitted 10 digs while Ayla Richardson and Madi Baldwin each had 9.
Kennady Breitfelder led Springville with 14 kills. Lily Clark had 7 kills. Nia Howard posted 39 assists and 14 digs. Ashlynne Zaruba and Molly Stamp each served 3 aces. Stamp recorded 10 digs.
Riverside ends the year with a record of 33-6. Four of their losses were to ranked teams in Class 2A. Springville advances to the semifinals on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. with a record of 38-3.
