(Logan, IA) — AHSTW is ready for game number two while Logan Magnolia opens their season — they face off in a non district match up tonight on KSOM.
The Vikings are 1-0 after a 30-7 win over Missouri Valley. Head Coach Davis Pattee is using a rotation at running back — Sophomore Kooper Krummel had 11 carries for 50 yards; Freshman Taylen Hansen had 5 carries for 44 yards; Freshman Boston Harris had 5 carries for 38 yards. Plus Junior QB Dayton Osbahr rushed it 8 times for 60 yards. In fact Pattee expects to rotate a lot of guys at a lot of positions
In the air, Osbahr was 11 of 17 passing for 195 yards, 3 TD and 1 INT. Junior Evan Harder had 5 catches for 92 yards and 2 scores while Junior Cooper Robinson had 2 catches for 77 yards including a 69 yarder for a TD. Pattee says they were happy and not shocked with their big play ability
On defense, the tackle chart was balanced — Robinson led with 5.5 tackles and Senior Sam Sturm made some plays with 4.5 tackles, 3 TFL and 2 interceptions including one for a TD. Pattee says he has been able to overcome an injury that happened last year
In terms of Logan Magnolia, the Vikings are facing a team with a new head coach that have some veterans on offense. Pattee says they have the ability to put points on the board
The former coach at Nodaway Valley Jack West is now running Logan Magnolia and he has an experience at a lot of positions — Senior QB Ashton Peszulik got hurt in mid season last year but threw for over 1600 yards as a Sophomore; Senior Max Wingert is back at Tailback; Senior Crosby Yoder had 53 receptions for 655 yards and 6 TD last season. West is fortunate to have a senior oriented team
On the offensive line, West has some newcomers sprinkled in with some veterans
Right now, Lo Ma does not have any starters going both ways on the lines — West likes what he has on the defensive front
Logan Magnolia beat AHSTW 12-6 a year ago and West says the Vikings are extremely athletic
