(Oakland, IA) — It was another big game for Mason Houser of Riverside football; helping to lead the Bulldogs to a District Title and he is the GG Harris Farm Bureau KSOM Athlete of the Week.
Houser was held in check by AC/GC in the first half on Friday as Riverside basically only had possession for 6 minutes of game time but his 89 yard TD run in the 4th quarter broke the game wide open and the Bulldogs won 21-13.
Houser finished with 19 carries for 166 yards and 2 scores. He felt like he almost broke a few runs before that one
Houser does not take all the credit — the Chargers needed a TD and 2 point conversion to tie the game and on 4th and Goal from the 1; Houser thought they were going to give it to Fullback Morgun Nolte but it was mis-direction and QB Andrew Baumert kept it but Houser says there were guys ready to make the play
For the season, the Sophomore now has 1,402 yards rushing and 21 TD — Houser says the District title is another step towards going far in the playoffs
Riverside will host Earlham in the Class A First Round this Friday; coverage on KSOM.
