(Washington, D.C.) Packaged lettuce from Taylor Farms and Taylor Fresh Foods is being recalled in 27 states, including lettuce sold at Walmart grocery stores in Iowa.
The iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico initially triggered concern in restaurants, but Taylor Farms turned its attention to its own products. The FDA and CDC say the Taylor Farms lettuce has been linked to cases of the microscopic parasite Cyclospora, which causes explosive diarrhea and intense abdominal pain that can last for days or weeks.
Recalled products include salad mixes, shredded, and chopped lettuce in a variety of salad flavors and combinations. Walmart’s Marketside brand is directly affected, and those who have products in their fridge are advised to throw everything away.
