(Logan, IA) — Logan Magnolia’s softball team is getting ready for their 2nd season. The 9th ranked Panthers have two games left in the regular season; after playing 11 games in 11 days, Head Coach Jamie Evans gave the team off this past weekend. Evans says they want to sharpen their skills when the post-season begins next week. Senior Campbell Chase continues to have an All State type of season — hitting .419 with 1 HR and 19 RBI — in the circle she is 16-6 with a 1.69 ERA. Evans says she is more of a strikeout pitcher this year with 179 Ks in 120 plus innings pitched but he won’t reveal which of her pitches is strongest
Offensively, Lo Ma is hitting .299 as a team and getting production from a lot of young hitters. Freshman Whitney Hawkins is batting .300; 8th grader Kennedy Evans .326; Freshman Ella Hack .246 but has 15 RBI. It has given the Panthers a balanced line up says Evans
Logan Magnolia is the number two seed in Class 2A Region 4. Riverside is the #1 seed. The Panthers have a first round bye and face the winner of Tri Center and Southwest Valley. If they win that game, they play the winner of AHSTW and Underwood. With so many Western Iowa Conference rivals, it will not make a trip to state easy
Logan Magnolia is 16-7 overall and visits Kuemper Catholic Wednesday and goes to Westwood to finish the regular season on Thursday.
