(Avoca, IA) — CAM visits AHSTW in a baseball regular season finale for both teams tonight, coverage on 96.5 FM KSOM.
These two teams could meet each other again in the 2nd round of the 1A playoffs but they have to get past their first round opponents.
AHSTW is 12-11 after falling to West Monona last night. The Vikings are led offensively by Senior Catcher Cash Freeman who is hitting .328 with 18 RBI however the team is only hitting .232. They have made up for it with solid defense — a team fielding percentage of .938 which ranks 14th among Class 1A teams. Head Coach Trey Brix says that was a point of emphasis early in the season
CAM is 15-7 after falling to Coon Rapids Bayard last night. The Cougars are led by Junior Carson McKee who is hitting .500 with 18 RBI; Junior Kason Calhoun is hitting .420 with 25 RBI; Senior Collin Bower is at .386, 2 HR and 26 RBI; and Junior Zach Kauffman is batting .403, 1, 17. Plus they have 189 stolen bases. Brix, says, they cannot steal first base
