(Audubon, IA) — Exira EHK/Audubon Softball will be hosting Missouri Valley tonight in a battle of ranked opponents, coverage on KSOM. A number of Spartan players have seen tremendous improvement this year including Senior Jordan Mulford.
Last season, Mulford hit just .149 with 4 RBI and 9 runs scored — in the first six games this year, she is batting .438 with 2 RBI and 7 runs scored. She says that there have been no major changes with her stance or how she swings — it has been her mental approach
Mulford is not the only player who has improved — Sophomores Brylie Petersen, Zoey Rasmussen and Lucy Stanerson have made strides and Mulford points out Junior Maya King is now a starter at 2nd base. Mulford says it all takes the pressure off Riley Miller and Taryn Petersen
Mulford does not just play softball — she has done dance all four years and wrestles, making it to state the last two years in a row. When she thinks back on her high school years, she is most proud in how far she has come in that sport
Mulford says she would like to coach wrestling one day, even if its as a volunteer assistant to help the sport continue to grow.
In the meantime, Exira EHK/Audubon will face the Lady Reds tonight — Mo Valley has two talented pitchers in Senior Rylee Evans and Freshman Paityn West and Mulford says adjusting to opponents pitching will be key for this team the rest of the season
#4 Exira EHK/Audubon hosts #13 Missouri Valley tonight, game time is at 7:00 pm, coverage on 96.5 FM KSOM and audio at westerniowatoday.com.
