(Massena) The Massena Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a two-day event celebrating the United States’ 250th Anniversary, taking place over the July 4 weekend. Doug Venteicher, a member of the Massena City Council and the Chamber Board, mentioned that preparations for this event have been underway for the past six months.
The festivities, titled “Spark the 4th of July,” will kick off with a golf tournament on Friday morning at Crestwood Hills Golf Course in Anita. Families can enjoy pony rides, and the Kiddy Parade is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., followed by a kids dance party at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, there will be face painting for children throughout the day.
The event will also include a beer garden, trivia games, and a family glow run, which starts at Massena City Park at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, activities will commence with a”kegs and eggs” brunch at 7:30 a.m. The parade lineup begins at 9:00 a.m., leading to the parade itself starting at 10:00 a.m. Throughout the day, attendees can explore offerings from approximately nine different food vendors, including the Cass County Cattlemen.
Entertainment will include carnival games, contests for beards, pigtails, and mullets, mud races, an adult scavenger hunt, an alum reunion, and a bags tournament. The highlight of the weekend will be fireworks at dark.
The Massena Fire Department has arranged for a performance by former American Idol contestant Alexis Curran, along with a lively street dance to round out the celebration.
