(Henry County, Iowa) Two people suffered injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Henry County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Thursday at Highway 34 and Clayton Avenue. Authorities identified the injured persons as 82-year-old Ronald Wayne Welcher of Mount Pleasant and 22-year-old Collin McDaniel Congdon of Donnellson, Iowa.
According to the report a 2015 Chevy Silverado pickup traveling westbound on Highway 34 approaching Clayton Avenue in rural Henry County, driven by 22-year-old Collin Congdon, of Newbury. Meanwhile, a 2014 Ford F150 driven by 82-year-old Ronald Welcher, of Mount Pleasant, attempted to cross the westbound lanes of Highway 34 and turn northbound onto Clayton Avenue. According to State Police, Welcher failed to yield and collided with the Silverado pickup on westbound Highway 34.
The Ford came to rest in the westbound ditch. The Chevy ended up in the southbound lanes of Clayton Avenue.
MedForce 2 airlifted Welcher to the University Hospital in Iowa City. Henry County Ambulance transported Congdon to the Henry County Health Center.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Pleasant Fire Department, Henry County EMS, and MedForce.
