It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dawn Marie Good, born on November 12, 1958, in Billings, Montana, to Howard Lee Davis and Verna Marie (Hamburg) Davis. Dawn, the oldest of four children, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on September 29, 2024, in Fontenelle, Iowa.
Dawn grew up in Billings before moving to Omaha, Nebraska, where she graduated from high school. In her youth, Dawn became a mother to Matt Templin, whom she placed for adoption. Years later, she was blessed to reconnect with Matt, his wife Leslie, and their children, Abbi, Zach, and Isaac, creating cherished memories with them.
Dawn later married John Doyle, and though their marriage ended, they shared three daughters: Genevieve (Darrell) Pershin, Daphne Doyle, and Abbi (Jay Jackson) Doyle. Following her marriage to John, Dawn shared a long relationship with Michael Finken, with whom she had a daughter, Maria (Brian) Horton. After Dawn and Michael separated, she met and married Ben Good. Dawn and Ben were together for a couple of years before separating.
In her later years, Dawn found companionship and love with her long-term partner, Pops Danny Compton, who preceded her in death. Their relationship was a source of joy and support in her life.
Dawn adored her grandchildren: Natasha Pershin, Callie Pershin, Chloe Pershin, Wyatt Pershin, Kingston Horton, Kennedy Horton, and Maddox Horton. She also lovingly remembered her grandson Matthew Dennis, who was given up for adoption, and her angel grandson Allen John Pershin.
Dawn’s life was marked by her strong work ethic and a heart full of generosity. She often worked multiple jobs at once, including roles as a server, bartender, bank teller, and department store sales associate. One of her most fulfilling jobs was as a security armored car driver with Security Armored, a position she held for many years and truly enjoyed.
Throughout her life, Dawn’s faith in the Lord was a constant source of strength. She believed that in times of trouble, the Lord was always carrying her. Her faith guided her through life’s challenges and provided her with peace and comfort, especially in difficult times.
In her free time, Dawn expressed herself through various crafts, including wood burning, sewing, and painting. She never turned down the opportunity to play Bingo and loved spending time in the mountains of her home state, Montana. Dawn also had a deep affection for her cats, house plants, playing her keyboard, and swimming at the beach.
Dawn is preceded in death by her father, Howard Davis; her grandparents Howard and Gladys Davis; her grandparents Ruben and Marie Hamburg; her partner Pops; her brother Carl Davis; her grandson Allen; and her former partner Michael Finken. She is survived by her children: Matt (Leslie) Templin, Genevieve (Darrell) Pershin, Daphne Doyle, Abbi (Jay Jackson) Doyle, and Maria (Brian) Horton; her grandchildren: Natasha, Callie, Chloe, Wyatt, Kingston, Kennedy, Maddox, Abbi, Zach, Isaac, and Matthew Dennis; her mother Verna Marie (Hamburg) Davis; her siblings: Stan (Linda) Davis and Bonnie (Jeff) Hart; as well as her extended family and dear friends.
