Angela Marie Griffen, born on June 9, 1973, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Her parents were Burton and Peggy (Olive) Simms. Angie graduated from college with a Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She was united in marriage to Rodney Griffen on January 7, 1995 in Harlan, Iowa. Together they raised Cassandra and Joshua.
Angie touched the lives of many with her infectious laughter and unwavering kindness. She always brought joy to those around her. She cherished time spent with friends and family and always put their needs first. She gave such compassionate care to her residents and often identified as their “favorite”. Angela absolutely loved her family and most importantly spending time with her grandma Helen Olive. She stood by her marriage to Rodney for over 29 years and welcomed his daughter, Cassandra, into her life with open arms and treated her like her own. Grandson Bobby was the light of her life. The love she had for him was immeasurable.
Angela passed away at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Burton and Peggy Simms. Left to cherish her memory here on earth are her husband Rodney Griffen of Avoca, Iowa; children Cassandra Griffen (Justin Smith); Joshua Janson; 4 grandchildren: Leah Smith, Aubriee Smith, Ellarie Smith and Robert Royal Janson Griffen all of Avoca, Iowa. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends she made along the way.
Celebration of Life Services for 51 year old Angela Griffen of Avoca will be Saturday, October 5th at 1PM at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca. The Pauley Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
