(Bloomington, IN)- Iowa’s sharp shooting was anything but, as the Hoosiers couldn’t miss and take a huge win over the Hawkeyes. 14th-ranked Indiana took a lead in the second quarter and never looked back as they beat the fourth-ranked Hawks 86-69. Indiana gets revenge for their loss in Iowa City and boosts itself to 22-4 overall and 13-3 in Big 10 action. Meanwhile, Iowa moves to 23-4 overall and 12-3 in Big 10 play.
Indiana shot 51% from the floor including 42% from three as they would be led in scoring by Sara Scalia who notched 25 points with a perfect 8-8 at the charity stripe. Mackenzie Holmes was just behind her with 24 points as she also had a great defensive game with nine rebounds and four blocks. Iowa was led by Caitlin Clark with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, just shy of the triple-double. Kate Martin has been a bright spot for the offense in recent games as she notches 19 points. The Hoosiers held the Hawks to 38% shooting including an abysmal 18% from beyond the arc.
Indiana now claims the number two spot in the Big 10 as Iowa drops to three, both behind Ohio State with a 14-1 conference record. The Hawks return to Iowa City and Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday as they host 13-12 Illinois with tipoff at 12 pm.
