(Elk Horn, IA) – With back-to-back wins, the Spartans could go into the break with three consecutive wins after beating Paton-Churdan on Tuesday. Exira-EHK was able to utilize their experience and athleticism in the 89-29 win over Paton-Churdan. Head coach Tony Santistaben credited Paton-Churdan’s fight in the competition with such a young squad on the floor.
Exira-EHK features three players in double digits with Cash Emgarten, Aiden Flathers, and Josh Nelson all averaging 11 points or more per game. One player that sticks out of the bunch is Jackson Radcliffe. The senior leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.3 while he knocks down 7.3 points per game. Radcliffe is a player that coach Santistaben loves to see out on the floor in his effort, intensity, and motivation to get better on the floor.
A few other players to mention for Exira-EHK are Jonas LaCanne and Jaiden Pettepier. LaCanne is averaging 3.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while Pettepier is averaging eight points and 3.5 rebounds per game this year. These are two players who won’t knock down a team in scoring, but their effort both offensively and defensively is crucial to the Spartans.
Looking ahead, Exira-EHK is taking on CAM in a Rolling Valley Conference matchup tonight at CAM High School. These teams are 3-3 in their last six games against one another and that rivalry doesn’t look to stop anytime soon. CAM features Collin Bower, who is the second-leading scorer with 12.8 points and team-leading 11.3 rebounds per game. If Exira-EHK keeps up the defensive intensity on the floor, that will help in terms of communication while also spreading out the offense on the floor.
Exira-EHK travels to CAM tonight for their last game of the calendar year as they battle the Cougars at 7:30 p.m.
