Helen Jenkins was a sweet compassionate caring soul, and an absolute angel on earth. On September 24, 2023, she was called home to be our angel from above where she was reunited with the love of her life, her husband of 64 years. Family was everything to Helen and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Helen was born on January 24, 1938, in Rochester, New York. She was the daughter of Joseph D and Helen Kenyon. In 1956 Helen began corresponding with a handsome soldier from small town Iowa. In the Spring of 1956, she would graduate from John Marshall High School in Rochester, New York. For the next two years they would fall in love through their letters and on November 7, 1958, Helen and Dale were married. They spent 64 years building a life together with their two children.
Helen loved the beach, picnics, playing cards, sewing, knitting and just being with her family and friends. If she loved you, you knew it and she was devoted to you.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, W. Dale Jenkins, her parents, Joseph D and Helen Kenyon, her brothers Joseph Kenyon, Darwin Kenyon, and William Kenyon, her sisters Mary Kenyon and Esther Beishline,
Helen leaves behind her daughter Deb (Dale) Stephenson, a son Ron (Karen) Jenkins, grandchildren Lyndsey (Stephenson) Buhrman (Tim), Danielle (Stephenson ) Jones (Matt ), Shelby Jenkins, Chelsea (Jenkins ) Dvorak (Alex ) and William Jenkins (Samantha ) and great- grandchildren Dyllan Buhrman, Bryce Buhrman, Brayden Jones, Brody Christensen, Brystol Dvorak, Chance Dvorak, Cash Suhr, Lux Jenkins and Mattie Jenkins, numerous nieces, and nephews and so many friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at the Griswold United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be on Friday morning at the church, starting at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in the Whipple Cemetery. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
