(Avoca, IA) – On this week’s Upcoming Podcast, we talked to Riley Knop, a multisport senior for the Vikings at AHSTW. Knop runs cross-country and track while also hitting the hardwood in basketball and the field in softball. Knop is currently ranked #18 in Class 2A as she ran 23:47.21 in the 5k race. Out of every sport, Knop favors Cross Country the most. She loves her teammates and is more than excited to get deeper into the season and improve her times and her team.
In 2021, Knop was a State Qualifier and competed to the top of her level while also getting a new experience with new faces along the way.
As Knop is involved in Cross Country, she is also looking ahead to her last seasons of high school in every sport. AHSTW is looking forward to a new girl’s basketball season as Knop is looking to develop even more on the court as she averaged 2.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game last season. She is also looking forward to her track season, where she had a 6:13 mile time while in softball she had a .330 batting average and was second on the team in hits with 33.
Riley is also involved in Student Council, NHS, and is the Class President. While playing four different sports and maintaining her GPA, Knop is more than busy.
AHSTW is already a meet down as they finished in 3rd place overall behind Clarinda and Harlan. Knop is looking to continue to beat her times this season and looks to get even better. Her teammates finished 12th and 13th in the meet at Shenandoah as Riley finished right behind them at #15 on Tuesday.
Knop and her team will be racing tonight in the Logan-Magnolia Invitational starting at 4:30 p.m. You can check out The Upcoming Podcast featuring Riley Knop by clicking here.
