(Denison) Atlantic defeated Harlan and Denison-Schleswig in a double-dual wrestling meet at Denison on Thursday. The Trojans working with a full line-up, downed Harlan, 60-14 and 64-9 over Denison-Schleswig.
In the Harlan match, Jayden Cox (132) of Atlantic won by forfeit, and Harlan’s Brody McKinley (138), answered with an 18-1 tech fall to snug the score to 6-5.
The Trojans answered with five straight wins and opened up a 33-5 lead. Tyson O’Brien (145), Dante Hedrington (160), and Jarrett Armstrong (170) won by falls, Tanner O’Brien (152) picked up a forfeit, and Brenden Casey (182), won by decision.
Zane Benforf righted the ship for Harlan with a pin at (195) to bring the score to 33-11.
But the Trojans responded by winning the next five matches. Miles Mundorf (220) won by decision and pushed the lead to 36-11. The Trojans followed with falls from Braxton Hass (106) and Josh Hass (120). Evan Sorensen (285) and Aiden Smith (113) won by forfeit to push the score to 60-11.
Shane Noeth (126) of Harlan polished off the match with a 7-5 decision, and the score settled out at 60-14, Atlantic.
In the Denison-Schleswig dual, Atlantic won 11 of the 14 matches, with eight pins, one major decision, two decisions, and one forfeit.
Picking up pins for the Trojans were; Zach Brennecke (138), Tanner O’Brien (152), Dante Hedrington (160), Jarrett Armstrong (170), Brenden Casey (182), Evan Sorensen (285), Braxton Hass (106), and Aiden Smith, (113). Cohen Bruce (195) won by major decision, Tyson O’Brien picked up a 3-2 decision at (145), and Josh Hass (120), won by forfeit.
Kaiden Krajicek (132) won by fall, and Jaxon Hildebrandt, (220), won by decision for the Monarchs.
