Iowa DOT Ready For Winter Storm

(Undated) The Iowa Department of Transportation is preparing for what could be a multi-day operation keeping roads across the state from drifting shut. They say a bitter cold from the winter storm could make clearing roads more difficult, as road salt becomes ineffective at cutting through the ice and packed snow. During the last few weeks, some local snow and ice clearing operations in parts of the state have helped the DOT work out any bugs for a major, statewide operation.
