(Des Moines) This past week, the Iowa House passed a bill to require testing for radon gas in Iowa schools.
Iowa House District 21 Representative Tom Moore said this legislation was written in honor of Gail Orcutt, a retired Iowa teacher who lost her battle with radon-induced lung cancer in 2020.
House File 2412 passed 93-2.
The Iowa House also passed a bill relating to County Compensation Boards. Moore said HF 2430 gives county board of supervisors the ability to dissolve county compensation boards. In place of county compensation boards, the board of supervisors would carry out the duties of the compensation board as prescribed in code. The bill passed by a vote of 55-37.
