(Area) The southwest Iowa counties south of Interstate 80 are under a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 6:00 p.m. this evening until 6:00 p.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service says an area of light to possibly moderate snow will spread into southwest Iowa tonight and across southern Iowa through tomorrow. The bulk of the snow is expected Thursday morning through the afternoon hours. Some uncertainty remains as to how far north the snow will reach Iowa, so some adjustments to the forecast may still take place later today.
Forecasters expect total snow accumulations of one to three inches with local totals of four inches along the Iowa-Missouri border. The counties south of Highway 34 will receive heavier amounts of two to four inches of snow.
The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute on Thursday. Some uncertainty with the storm’s track and the northern extent of the snowfall remains. There is a possibility that more of the snow may stay farther south into Missouri. Please monitor later forecasts for additional information.
