(Atlantic) The Atlantic Speech and Debate Team brought home the Sweepstakes Trophy at Saturday’s 51st Annual Walnut Hills Invitational held at CAM High School.
“I had not taken students in my eight years here, and I do not know the last time Atlantic competed at this contest, “said Atlantic Co-Head Coach Trisha Nicewanger. “It is held between the two weeks from District Individual Speech and State. The contest gives students a chance to perform in front of a judge, receive helpful feedback, and calm the nerves.”
The Atlantic Varsity & freshman competed in 24 entries. Thirteen entries moved into finals and performed in front of three judges. Atlantic came away with nine trophies.

Josie Handlos–3rd place in Freshmen Poetry
This week the team is preparing for the State Speech Contest on Saturday at ADM High School. Atlantic qualified 28 entries.
