(Red Oak) The Iowa State Patrol has released more information on an accident involving a Red Oak Police cruiser and a pedestrian.
According to the report, the accident occurred at 5:55 p.m. on Monday on N Broadway near the intersection of Joy Street. Red Oak Police Officer Reece Anderson, 22, was driving a 2019 Dodge Durango, responding to Acorn Acres for a fire call with lights and sirens activated. Anderson was northbound on N Broadway Street near the intersection of Joy Street when 12-year-old Vana Marie Redd, of Red Oak, ran into the roadway and was struck by the police car. Vana Marie Redd sustained fatal injuries from the impact.
The accident remains under investigation.
