(Webster City) The Atlantic girls placed four runners in the top 20 and finished third in the purple division at the Webster City Lynx Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday with 69 points. Ballard won the team title with 23 points; Gilbert, second, 63; Atlantic, 69; Nevada, 114; Algona, 114; and Webster City, 125.
Gabrielle Engler led the Atlantic girls’ squad with a seventh-place finish out of 52 runners. The junior ran 21:29.69. Kaitlyn Hickman finished in tenth place in a time of 22:28.27; Lucy Northwick, 16th, in 23:16.78; Cambry Van Ert, 23:40.97; Ximena Mendez, 19th, 24:00.25; and Gracelyn Kelley, 43rd, in a time of 28:14.52.

In the boys’ race, Gilbert won the purple division with 23; Nevada finished second with 73; Waverly-Shell Rock, third, 100; Fort Dodge, fourth, 100; and Atlantic finished fifth with 133 points. Webster City finished sixth with 148 points, Algona seventh with 159, and Ballard finished eighth with 159.
Mason Betts led the Trojans with a fifth-place finish out of 75 runners. The junior toured the course in 17.13.52. Thomas Engler finished 27th in 19:00.81, Gage Schroeder, 28th, 19:07,10, Caleb Andersen, 41st, 20:06, Kouper Kinney, 43rd, 20:10.56, Zander Hatley, 53rd, 21:06.33, John McCurdy, 58th, 21:20.85, and Alex Hoyt, was 71st in a time of 23:58.67.
