(Atlantic) New season, new lineup, new district, new classification, and new head coach when the Atlantic Football team opens the season with on Friday night at home against Glenwood.
The Trojans replace eight starters on offense and nine starters on defense; they move up a classification to 3A, a new set of teams, and former Offensive line Coach Joe Brummer takes over the reins as head football coach for the Trojans.
Coach Brummer has 65 players, (freshman through seniors), out for football this fall.
Hunter Weppler is the lone senior on the offensive line, flanked by four juniors.
Ayden Brown is the starting tailback. In a backup role a year ago, Brown carried the ball 32-times for 159-yards, for an average of 5-yards per carry.
The Trojans face a tough challenge with Class 4A non-district opponent Glenwood. Coach Brummer says the Rams are physical, they spread you out, and run the ball.
Another key player for the Rams, is Brock Sell, a 6’2, 185-pound senior quarterback.
Coach Brummer says the difference in the game is stopping the run on defense and establishing a running game on offense. He says getting off to a quick start will be another key for the Trojans.
The kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 FM and live-streamed on westerniowatoday.com.
