(Atlantic) A Cass County man is behind bars on arson and assault charges.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested 47-year old John Duane Anderson of Cumberland for 2nd –degree arson and assault while participating in a felony on August 16, and 1st-degree arson, violating a protective order, stalking, and assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, on August 17.
According to the arrest report; an anonymous caller informed the authorities that Anderson allegedly assaulted a victim inside the home in Cumberland, and threatened to burn the house down. Deputies smelled a strong odor of accelerant when they arrived on the scene, and diesel fuel poured on the front porch. The lid to the ready heater was removed and a red gas can jug was opened on the porch with liquid marks on the side. Officer’s found more liquid poured in the Living Room and the TV was smashed. The victim told authorities Anderson allegedly tried to light a propane tank next to her, but it wouldn’t light.
Anderson is being held on a $100,000 bond.

*On August 16, Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sean Thomas Lambson, 38, of Atlantic, on a Cass County warrant for sexual abuse 3rd degree. Lambson was transported from Delaware County to Cass County Jail, where he is currently being held on bond.
*On August 17, Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mathew Clay Mitchell, 51, of Brayton for OWI 1st offense. Mitchell was transported to Cass County Jail, where he was later released on his own recognizance.
*On August 15, Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robin Lynn Troxel, 42, of Atlantic, for OWI 1st Offense. Troxel was transported to Cass County Jail and was released later in the day on her own recognizance.
*On August 14th, at approximately 6:29 p.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident near 640th St. and Tucson Rd near Griswold. Zachary Tyler Olson of Atlantic was traveling westbound on Tucson Road driving a 1997 Ford Taurus when he lost control on the gravel. The vehicle overturned and came to rest in the south ditch. Olson was uninjured in the accident.
*On August 14, Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kyle Christopher Archibald, 38, of Atlantic, for OWI 3rd offense and child endangerment-no injury. Archibald was held at Cass County Jail and was later released on bond.
*On August 13, Cass County Deputies arrested Hilary Frances Steinhoff, 31, of Griswold, for OWI 1st offense. Steinhoff was transported to Cass County Jail and later released on her own recognizance
