Funeral services for 99-year old Gladys M Bauman of Audubon, formerly of Lake Benton, Minnesota will be held at 3 pm Saturday, August the 14th, 2021, at St. Johns Lutheran Church at 815 east division Audubon, Iowa 50025. Live and virtual services are available on Pastor Mike Bodkins Facebook page. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys M. Bauman Riesgaard was born October 25, 1921. She passed away on July 22, 2021, at Salem Luthern Home in Elkhorn, Iowa.
Gladys was the daughter of Fred and Lizzie Bauman. Gladys was baptized and confirmed in September of 1985 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. Gladys attended a rural school near Lake Benton, Minnesota. July 4th, 1942, Gladys was united in marriage to Milo Riesgaard in West Columbia, South Carolina. To this union, two sons Milo Jr and Merle, were born. Gladys and Milo farmed outside of Exira, Iowa, until moving to Audubon in 1960.
Gladys worked as a clerk and controller of Coast to Coast hardware store for 30 years until she retired. Gladys cared for her husband Milo until his passing in 1985 at home.
Gladys was a hard worker, loved her yard, flowers, and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great-grandmother.
Gladys was a member of St. Johns Lutheran church and was a member of many card clubs. She also participated in other organizations, including Lutheran World Relief quilting, quilting for the VA hospital, volunteering for the Sharing and Caring group, the Mission Guild of St Johns Lutheran Church, the LWML of St. Johns Lutheran Church, the VFW of Audubon, and the American Legion.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Milo Riesgaard and her son Milo Jr.
Gladys is survived by her son Merle, grandson Lonnie, granddaughters Lori, Shelly, and Jennifer, 6 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandson.
