(Red Oak) Montgomery County Sheriff Jon Spunaugle is making a smooth transition into his new role as County Sheriff.
Jon Spunaugle began his law enforcement career with the Red Oak Police Department in 1998. He spent two-and-a-half years there, and has spent the past 21-and-a-half years with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He served as Chief Deputy under former Sheriff Joe Sampson, which he said made for a smooth transition.
Spunaugle’s special interest is in drug enforcement. He says times have changed in the tactics and different aspects of drug enforcement over the past 23-years.
Sheriff Spunaugle says other than that the Sheriff’s Office will be run much like before. He says they have a proactive office. There are nine staff members including the Sheriff and all but three have over 15-years of experience
Sheriff Spunaugle officially began his duties on January 1, 2021.
