(Atlantic) Atlantic downed Shenandoah 72-16 in a Hawkeye Ten Conference girls’ basketball game at Atlantic on Monday night.
Atlantic’s full-court pressure defense led the Trojans to 52 first-half points. Haley Rasmussen sparked the offense with 23, and Taylor McCreedy chipped in 11, in the first half. Rasmussen and McCreedy sat out in the second half.
The Trojans grabbed a 5-4 lead in the first quarter and strung the score to 21-5 early in the second quarter, and 52-5 at the half.
The second half moved quickly with the running clock, and both coaches cleared their respective benches.
Jada Jensen scored 13-points, Tessa Grooms 9, Maycie Waters, and Malena Woodward, and Lauren Nicholas each chipped in 6-points.
Reese Spiegel and Sidda Rodewald led Shenandoah with 6 points each.
Atlantic is now 8-12 on the season and 4-6 in the conference. Shenandoah goes to 10-10 and 3-8 in conference play.
