(Harlan, IA) — The Harlan Cyclones are once again looking like a team to watch out for in Class 3A, nearing the end of the regular season as one of the top teams in the Hawkeye 10 Conference and finding much success in non-conference play as well.
The Cyclones have won five of their last six in the Hawkeye Ten Conference and continueto improve their play as the regular season begins to wrap up. Head Coach Heath Stein says it’s been a good couple weeks that the team has put together:
Harlan was close to reaching the state tournament last year but fell short in the substate finals to Bishop Heelan 4-2, and the team has come back with a reloaded squad. The team is batting over .300 and is rather young; junior Colton Schneider leads the team in RBI’s with 55, sophomore Foxx Argotsinger walks the most with 19, and junior Gavin Eck gets the most time on the mound with over 30 innings pitched and an ERA of 3.03. Stein says the team has been pitching with much more control as of late:
With the postseason brackets being released within the next several days, Stein says competing when it matters will be key to success:
Harlan will look to continue their high-quality play as the postseason gets closer.
