(Essex) The Page County Sheriff’s Office responded to a rollover accident four miles northeast of Essex on Thursday.
The accident occurred on Highway 48 near 130th Street at approximately 4:11 p.m. The investigation showed that 25-year-old Jacob Daniel Smith, of rural Red Oak, was operating a 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport SUV south on Highway 48 when he crossed a sheet of ice and lost control of the vehicle. The Jeep rolled one time and came to rest on its wheels. Smith was the only person in the vehicle. He was transported to an unknown hospital by private vehicle.
No citations were issued.
Damage to Smith’s vehicle is estimated at $8,000.
