Ruth “Elaine” Berry, the daughter of Roscoe King and Hazel Laura (Ireland) Daniels, was born February 4, 1922, near Griswold, Iowa. She died January 9, 2020, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA, at the age of 97 years, 11 months, and 5 days.
Elaine attended school at Griswold, graduating from Griswold High School with the class of 1939. On February 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Keith Franklin Berry, at the Lewis Congregational Church Parsonage. They lived in Lewis, and after Keith’s enlistment in the service, Elaine drove his bus route. After Keith’s discharge, they moved to Carbondale, CO, where they owned and operated an automotive repair shop and parts store. After retiring, they moved to Green Valley, AZ in1978. Elaine moved to Atlantic in 2013. She lived at the Heritage House until the time of her death.
Elaine was an avid golfer and enjoyed snow skiing. She loved to travel.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister Doris Rogers and husband Paul; and brother Curtis Daniels and wife Wanda.
She is survived by her extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa. Inurnment will be at a later date. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
