(Adair Co.) The Adair County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on Ordinance #41. The ordinance regulates the siting, construction, operation, and decommissioning of data centers and cryptocurrency mining facilities in unincorporated Adair County.
The ordinance would require data centers to be at least 1,000 feet from property lines and 2,600 feet from occupied homes. It also includes noise standards, permanent foundation requirements, decommissioning requirements and financial assurances.
The public hearing lasted about one hour. The supervisors heard from several individuals who expressed concerns about noise and water usage from data centers.
The supervisors noted that, as of right now, no developers have approached the county with plans to build a data center in Adair County.
No action was taken on the ordinance at Wednesday’s meeting. The next public hearing on the ordinance is set for October 14th at 9:15 a.m.
