(Guthrie Center, IA) — At Tuesday’s Guthrie County Supervisors meeting, Conservation Director Brad Halterman gave an update on his department including the closing of a campground.
Halterman says because of the recent heavy rains, the bottom campground at Nation’s Bridge will have to be shut down
Halterman is starting to prepare the closing of all facilities at county wide campgrounds by October 15, depending on the weather
Halterman says the Conservation Department had to work short handed this year
Halterman says that the Ted Scheuermann: Maintenance Technician has decided to retire after 28 years — that job will now open up. Halterman says that the Historical Village and the Farmer’s Market had a great summer — there is one more farmer’s market on Saturday September 26th. They are still in the process of waiting on grants for the Raccoon River Valley Trail. And there is the Haunted Village coming up on October 15.
In addition to the conservation report, the Supervisors approved a contract for $175,000 for a bridge replacement project and approved the abatement of taxes for parcels of land in the cities of Stuart and Yale.
