(Pottawattamie Co.) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors signed a proclamation designating September 15th as Voter Registration Day.
The proclamation emphasizes that voting is an important part of civic participation and voter registration is the first step for eligible citizens. The proclamation notes that National Voter Registration Day has helped more than six million Americans register or update their registration since 2012.
It also highlights that changes such as moving, changing a name, becoming a U.S. citizen, or reaching voting age may require residents to register or update their information. The Pottawattamie County Auditor’s Office provides voter registration and verification resources, including online registration through the Iowa Secretary of State.
Pottawattamie County Auditor Mary Ann Hanusa thanked the board for approving the Proclamation.
The board encourages eligible county residents to register, keep their information current, and use official election resources to prepare for upcoming elections.
