(Treynor, IA) — Treynor’s all-around success in athletics this year has continued to the baseball diamond where the club took 3rd place in the Western Iowa Conference as they gear up for the postseason.
The Cardinals finished their conference schedule Thursday falling short to Underwood 8-5, finishing with a conference record of 13-3 and winning four of their last five. An improvement from last year’s 10-5 record, Treynor will host Red Oak in the first round of postseason play. Head Coach Billy Sanders says his team is starting to learn and understand key situations consistently:
The Cardinals have a powerful offense led by junior Brody Larsen who’s batting almost .560. He’s followed by speedy outfielder Riley Lauver who bats .400 and has stolen 20 bags this year. Sanders, however, says the defense can struggles at times:
