(Atlantic) Atlantic put together timely hitting and a dominant pitching performance to earn a 3-1 victory over Red Oak.
Atlantic wasted little time getting on the board in the first inning. Sawyer Tarrell sparked the offense with aggressive baserunning before scoring on Kale’s RBI double, giving the Trojans an early 1-0 advantage.
Cooper Woolsey added to the lead in the second inning in emphatic fashion, crushing a towering solo home run over the left-field wall to make it 2-0.
The Trojans added an insurance run in the sixth when Keston Schmitt continued his hot streak at the plate, driving in Jack Muller with an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-0.
Red Oak’s lone run came in the sixth inning after an Atlantic error.
Hudson McLaren was outstanding from start to finish, tossing a complete game. McLaren allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out four.
Tarrell led Atlantic’s offense with a 2-for-4 performance, while Woolsey’s solo blast and RBI doubles from Jensen and Schmitt accounted for all three Trojan runs securing the 3-1 win.
