(Red Oak) The Atlantic Softball team wrapped the Conference season at Red Oak on Thursday night with a pair of wins. The Trojans finished the Conference run with a perfect 20-0 record.
The Trojans defeated Red Oak 21-0 in game one, and followed up with a 20-0 win in the nightcap.
Atlantic’s offense exploded from the opening pitch, scoring 21 runs in the first three innings. The Trojans erupted for 10 runs in the first inning, added five more in the second, and tacked on six in the third to put the game out of reach early. Atlantic finished with 12 hits while taking advantage of one Red Oak error.
Lila Wiederstein led the offense with a home run and crossed the plate four times. London Kirchhoff delivered a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Peyton McLaren also contributed offensively, finishing 2-for-3.
McLaren was equally dominant in the circle. She tossed a complete four-inning shutout, allowing just one hit while striking out nine and walking none.
Red Oak managed just a single hit as Atlantic played a clean game defensively, committing no errors in the convincing victory.
In game two, Atlantic continued its dominant play with a 20-0, four-inning victory with a no-hit effort in the circle by Kinsley Johnson.
The Trojans scored two runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with six runs in the second and nine more in the third. Atlantic added three runs in the fourth to complete the 20-run outing. The Trojans collected 11 hits and played flawless defense.
Kinsley Johnson was dominant in the circle, tossing a four-inning no-hitter. She struck out six, did not issue a walk, and hit two batters while keeping Red Oak off the scoreboard.
Atlantic’s offense was paced by several standout performances. Zoey Kirchhoff went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead the attack. Lila Wiederstein stayed perfect at the plate, finishing 2-for-2, while Claire Schroder also recorded a pair of hits, going 2-for-2.
