(Atlantic) The Atlantic softball team finished with a 1-3 record this past weekend at the Fort Dodge Softball Tournament. The Trojans defeated Clear Creek-Amana on Friday, 8-0, followed that up with a 1-0 loss to Cedar Rapids Kennedy, the eventual tournament runner-up, and dropped games to Winterset (5-0) and North Polk (4-3).
The Trojans open the week on the road with a doubleheader at S. Albert. Atlantic Head Coach Terry Hinzmann says the pitching they saw over the weekend should help them when they face St. Albert this evening. Ella Narmi is 8-5 on the season with an ERA of 2.76 with 126 strikeouts, and only 22 walks.
The Trojans’ offense has been impressive, with a team batting average of .339, led by Lila Wiederstein (.450) and London Kirchhoff (.397). Zoey Kirchhoff is batting .366, Alivia Knuth, .364, Peyton McLaren, hitting .359, and Jillian Saathoff, .342.
The first game starts at 5:00 p.m.
The Trojans follow today’s road trip with a home game against Clarinda on Tuesday, a doubleheader at Red Oak on Thursday, and a non-conference home game on Friday against Dowling, Catholic.
