(Audubon, IA) — The high school softball season starts in two weeks and Exira EHK-Audubon will be looking to get back to the state tournament led by Junior Pitcher Riley Miller who last week announced that once she graduates, she will pitch for Indian Hills Community College.
Miller chose Indian Hills over William Jewel in Missouri for several different reasons
Miller seemed destined to play softball in college — her mother did also and her dad played college baseball. When she was 12 years old, she started playing the sport and soon picked up pitching thanks to a chance meeting
She started to work on several pitches including a fast ball and change which are the basics but it was the rise ball that became her bread and butter
She has also developed a drop ball and a drop change and drop curve. She plans on playing two years at Indian Hills and then hopes to take her game to the D-I level
In n her three seasons of high school softball, she has 48 career wins and 716 career strikeouts. She pitched her team to the state tournament as a freshman and lost a nail biter to Van Meter in the championship. The Bulldogs eliminated Exira EHK Audubon in the regional finals last year. With her future secure, Miller says its time to head back to Fort Dodge
Miller plans on starting a career in physical therapy while at Indian Hills Community in Ottumwa — Exira EHK Audubon will open their softball season on Tuesday, May 26 against IKM Manning.
