(Gowrie, Iowa) One person was airlifted, and another was transported to the hospital when a train struck their vehicle on Saturday afternoon.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 3:51 p.m. at the Gowrie-Lincoln Street and UP Railroad Crossing. Authorities say 62-year-old Mary Harrison, a passenger from Colo, Iowa, and 45-year-old Dirk Janssen, the driver from Colo, Iowa, suffered injuries in the crash.
According to the report, Janssen was driving an eastbound 2016 Hyundai Sonata on Lincoln Street in Gowrie and was struck by a northbound Union Pacific Train.
Life Flight transported Harrison to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, and Gowrie EMS transported Janssen to Trinity Hospital in Fort Dodge.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the Crash.
