(Red Oak) One person died from injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Montgomery County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Tuesday at Highway 34 and 4th Street in Red Oak. Authorities say 67-year-old Helen Louise Slavinski of Red Oak died in the crash. Kaylin Marie Carlson, 28, of Red Oak, suffered injuries.
According to the report, Helen Slavinksi was driving a northbound 2008 Toyota Scion on 4th Street and failed to yield to traffic, entered Highway 34, and was struck by an eastbound 2015 Peterbilt semi-truck and Trailer driven by 37-year-old Kyle Olive, of Corning, Iowa. The Toyota came to rest in the north ditch.
Red Oak Rescue transported Slavinski and her passenger, Kaylin Marie Carlson of Red Oak, to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, where Slavinski died from her injuries.
