(Red Oak) Beginning on Monday, May 11, until approximately November 25, weather permitting, crews will work on replacing the Iowa 48 bridge over Red Oak Creek, 1.3 miles south of the intersection with U.S. 34.
The work zone on Iowa 48 will be between 2nd Avenue and West Reed Street in Red Oak.
Traffic will be maintained with an opposing traffic pattern that includes temporary rail barrier and a lane separator system. A 9-foot-4-inch lane-width restriction will also be in place during this project.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
