(Neola, IA) — The girls took the track at Tri Center on Thursday night and Treynor beat the Trojans in the team standings. The Cardinals had 110 points while Tri Center finished with 94. Carroll was 3rd (84); Denison Schleswig 4th (80); St. Albert 5th (65); AHSTW 6th (63); Kuemper Catholic 7th (56); Missouri Valley (19) and Woodbine (10) brought up the rear.
Vanessa Blum of Woodbine improved in the high jump to win with at 5 feet, 5 inches — moving the bar up 3 inches from her previous best. She went from a tie for 33rd place to a tie for 8th place and is only an inch below the blue standard. She will make the field of 24 for the Drake Relays.
Treynor’s Shuttle Hurdle relay put themselves on the Drake Relays bubble — they ran a time of 1:08.01 to win wiith Nora Konz, Zoey Zadalis, Ava Saar, and Rylee Hemmingsen. At the time of their running, Treynor went from 18th to 16th in the standings pending any other scores being entered. The top 16 times make the Drake Relays field.
St. Albert posted the third fastest time in the Distance Medley relay — Sophia Denton, Ellie Laramie, Greta Livingston and Lili Denton ran a time of 4:13.94. They improved their time by 9 seconds; unfortunately the girls D-Med is not a Drake Relays event. Only Ankeny and Waukee Northwest has run faster this season in the state.
Kyia Clark of Denison Schleswig won both the 100 and 200 and anchored the 4×100 relay to a time of 51.98 which is on the Drake Relays bubble.
