(Council Bluffs) Lewis Central won the team title at the 10th Annual Council Bluffs Invitational boys track meet on Thursday, finishing with 126.50 points. The team placed first in the 800 sprint medley relay with a time of 1:39.39 and took second in the 4×100 meter relay in 42.86. Individually, Carter Thielen finished second in the high jump (6-00.00), Peyton Phippen placed second in the long jump (20-10.75), and Hunter Infanger won the shot put with a throw of 55-09.00 while also finishing second in the discus (141-06.00).
Glenwood finished second with 96 points, highlighted by several top performances. Aaden Lopez won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.62, Bryce Keller placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.68, and the team won the 4×100 meter relay in 42.86. Glenwood also finished second in the 4×400 meter relay in 3:28.81, while Todd Schmitt claimed first place in the discus with a throw of 155-01.00.
Treynor finished third with 86.50 points, led by a first-place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 59.79 and Cauy Konz’s win in the 100 meters in 11.15, and a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.55. Individually, Luke Christensen placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.78, and Drew Meyers finished second in the 200 meters in 23.24.
Atlantic finished fourth in the team race with 84 points, led by Ethan McNeal’s first-place finish in the long jump at 21-6.75 and a win in the 4×400 meter relay with Landon Hagen, Mason Betts, Colin Rudy, and McNeal in a season-best time of 3:28.65. Mason Betts placed second in the 3200 meters (10:31.37) and third in the 800 meters (2:06.61). The team recorded a time of 1:40.44 in the 800-sprint medley relay, while McNeal also finished second in the 100 meters in 11.42. Gavin McLaren took second in the shot put with a season-best throw of 55-5.50.
Underwood finished fifth in the team race with 55 points. The team won the 4×800 relay in 8:48.78 and placed second in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:02.10. Tayden Hull also earned a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 54.12.
Harlan was highlighted by Jeffrey Gross winning the 3200 in 10:98.91, while Fox Argotsinger placed second in the 400 meters in 51.93. AHSTW’s Collin Harder took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.68. Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson claimed first in the 1600 distance medley relay in 3:52.25. Clarinda earned a win in the 4×200 meter relay in 1:31.27, and Cooper Baumgart captured first in the high jump by clearing 6-1.00. Red Oak saw Cale Hall win the 200 meters in 22.83 and Reese Montgomery take first in the 800 meters in 2:02.67, while Emmanuel Grass finished second in the 1600 in 4:32.33.
