(Wiota) The Wiota Fire Department is holding a fundraising event to support recent equipment additions. Fire Chief Bryon Armstrong announced that a dinner and comedy show will take place on April 17 and 18 at the Wiota Fire Station, located at 311 Cedar Street.
Chief Armstrong says the department recently purchased new extrication equipment.
He noted that the Friends of the Fire Department contributed significantly toward funding these major purchases, including the ambulance.
Armstrong says it is important to purchase the equipment so they can be prepared when called upon.
Looking ahead, Armstrong added that the department plans to present a long-term proposal to expand the current fire station to accommodate larger equipment better.
Two comedians will entertain the crowd. John DeBoer will appear on Friday night, April 17, and John Bush on Saturday. Both comedians have roots in the Midwest, and both have appeared on Comedy Central.
The dinner menu includes slow-roasted smoked pork loin, country-style green beans, cheesy potatoes, and dessert. A raffle drawing will be held on Saturday.
The doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner is at 7:00 p.m., and the show starts at 8:00 p.m.
Armstrong says tickets are $50.00 per person, and can be paid for through Venmo, at Wiota Fire, and leave your name, send a message to the departments Facebook at Wiota Fire and Rescue, or call Bryon Armstrong at 254-2464, Mitch Boysen at 250-0078, Ford Lillard at 250-6921, Peter Molgaard, at 249-0634, or stop by the and see Brenda at the Wiota Steakhouse.
