Iowa Property Taxes Due March 31, or Late Fees Apply
(Des Moines, IA) — Iowans have until tonight to pay the second installment of property taxes before late fees are applied. Starting April 1st, late fees of one-point-five-percent will be enforced for every month the payment is late. Payments can be made on the Iowa Treasurer’s website, by mail, or in person at county treasurer’s offices.
Bill Codifying Pilot Program Providing Child Care Access for Care Workers Passes Iowa Legislature

House File 25-14 has seen significant bipartisan support, passing the Iowa Senate unanimously and the Iowa House with only three votes against the bill. The proposal would make permanent a pilot program offering increased child care access for child care workers has passed the Iowa legislature with bipartisan support.
Senate Passes Tuition Waiver Bill For Iowa Veterans
(Des Moines, IA) — A bill has passed the Iowa Senate that would waive tuition for some veterans at state universities. House Bill 24-91 waives tuition and mandatory fees for veterans with a 100% service-connected disability. Veterans must first use any available federal or state financial aid, and the waiver will cover any remaining costs not paid by those sources. It now heads to the House.
Iowa Munitions Plant Shut Down For Explosive-Safety Precaution Reopened On Monday
(Middletown, IA) — The Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in southeast Iowa reopened on Monday. The Middletown facility, near Burlington, was closed abruptly more than two weeks ago for a safety issue. In a press release, the commander of the plant says the safety of personnel, the nearby community, and environment were the top priority. The shut down was called to review the safety and storage of highly explosive lead azide at the plant. The plant produces 155-millimeter artillery shells for the U.S. military.
