(Durham, NC) — Nebraska women’s basketball faces Richmond in a NCAA Tournament First Four game tonight in Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke University.
The Huskers are 18-12 and are in the tourney for the third year in a row but have not gotten out of the first round any time during the Coach Amy Williams era. Nebraska is led by 5-11 Sophomore Britt Prince who averages 17.4 ppg. Nebraska has a top 20 offense in terms of scoring and field goal percentage and Prince says everybody on the floor gets touches
Their opponent is Richmond who is 26-7 out of the Atlantic 10. Prince says they are not like many of the conference opponents they face in the Big Ten
Nebraska has had its ups and downs this season but did win two games in the Big Ten tournament before falling in the quarterfinals to eventual champ UCLA. Head Coach Amy Williams says this is a chance for her team to have a fresh start
The Spiders are led by 6-2 Senior Maggie Doogan who averages 21 points a game — she has 88 threes on the season and is shooting 40 percent from three point land. Williams says she is a top notch scorer
The winner between Nebraska and Richmond will play six seeded Baylor on Friday. Game time tonight is 6:00 pm, it will be televised by ESPN2.
