(Atlantic) Atlantic Citizen Frank Saddlemire appeared at the Atlantic City Council meeting on Wednesday night, urging the city’s new leadership to revisit the position of a parks and recreation director. Saddlemire, a parks advocate since 2007, says the city has gone too long without the vision and leadership the position requires.
Saddlemire presented the council with a rough rundown since he has stuck his nose in the park and rec department. Saddlemire referenced three former park directors and a few of their accomplishments.
Saddlemire noted Herring also put in the new kiddie corral, and driving force behind the development at Schilberg’s Recreation Area, including the bridge over Troublesome Creek.
Saddlemire noted that Bryant Rasmussen developed the shelter at the campground on the west side of Schildbergs. He says since then, private citizens have driven the Splash Pad to the finish.
Saddlemire encourages the city council to figure out how to dig that money up and put it into a Park and Recreation Director.
