(Red Oak) The Montgomery County board of supervisors kicked off its Friday morning organizational meeting by electing the chair and vice-chair for 2026.
Supervisor Mike Olson made the motion to continue with Charla Schmid as Board Chairperson and Bryant Amos as Vice-Chair.
The supervisors also approved regular meeting dates to continue on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors meeting room at the courthouse. Additionally, the supervisors approved the Red Oak Express as the official County newspaper, and set the employees holiday schedule for Thanksgiving on (Thursday) November 26, 2026, and (Friday), November 27. Additionally, a floating holiday on December 24 (Thursday), (Friday), December 25, and New Year’s Day.
The supervisors also set the mileage rate for 2026 from the IRS guideline of 72.5 cents per mile. Schmid noted the county is currently at a lower rate.
The board then set appointments for 2026 to serve on the numerous committees.
