(Johnston, Iowa) Kick off the new year by observing National Blood Donor Month and helping save lives in your community. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion. These life-saving procedures are only possible because of volunteer blood donors. Yet, only about 3% of eligible Americans donate blood each year. If just 1% more people donated, blood shortages would be eliminated.
This National Blood Donor Month, we extend our sincere thanks to all generous donors who help make a difference. We also encourage anyone who is eligible to roll up their sleeves and donate blood to help ensure local hospitals begin 2026 with fully stocked shelves.
Community blood drives will be held at the following locations:
- Denison Community: January 12, 2026, from 12:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., at 100 Medical Parkway
- Schleswig Community: January 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 204 2nd Street
As a token of appreciation, anyone who donates at a LifeServe Blood Center donor center or mobile blood drive during January will be entered to win a Peloton exercise bike or an under-desk walking pad. More information about the giveaways is available online.
